Bowl Projections Roundup – Week 13
Texas Tech and Kansas State split the Big 12 projections for another week, while Iowa’s win over Michigan moved the Hawkeyes out of our predictions and slotted the Wolverines in their place. Minnesota also continued to dot the projection landscape after the 8-3 Gophers fell to Wisconsin over the weekend.

Where we stand: Kansas State, fresh off of a loss to Oklahoma, teamed with Texas Tech as the only two Big 12 teams to appear on our projection roundup. The Red Raiders travel to Austin on Thanksgiving to finish off their season against the Longhorns. A Red Raider win may bump Texas Tech out of our range and potentially push Texas into the Big 12’s Texas Bowl slot.
We had an exceptional trip to Iowa City on Saturday, watching the Hawkeyes come back against Michigan and potentially sending the Wolverines to Houston. Michigan takes on hated rival Ohio State this weekend, while Iowa faces Nebraska in Lincoln and still remains a distinct possibility to represent the Big Ten in Houston.
Minnesota also remains a possibility, as the Golden Gophers face a tough test this Saturday on the road against 11th ranked Michigan State, who has already clinched a berth in the Big Ten Championship game. A win there and the Gophers likely head to Florida for either the Capital One or Outback Bowl.
Likely 2014 Matchup: Each week, we’ll take a look at what our potential matchup would be next year, as we move up two spots in the Big 12 and into a rotation of selections in the SEC. Here’s our (admittedly somewhat wild) guess as to who could be our teams if the 2014 lineup was played this year:
- Big 12 #3 (after CFB Playoff): Kansas State Wildcats
- SEC selection (pool of bowls after CFB Playoff & Capital One Bowl): Texas A&M Aggies
Good Work Gophers: Minnesota employed the ole Dramatic-Chipmunk-on-the-video-board trick to try and intimidate the Wisconsin Badgers’ kicker on Saturday. The (chip)monkey-business actually paid off, resulting in Badgers’ kicker Jack Russell failing to convert the 38 yard field goal try.
The Little Giants would be proud: Fresno State executed a flawless FumbleRooskie against New Mexico on Saturday, as Isiah Burse picked the ball up off of the turf and raced into the endzone to give the Bulldogs a 28-0 lead.
