Coursey Named Week 5 Player of the Week
Wichita Falls RB rumbles for 357 yards and 8 touchdowns
D.J. Coursey, a running back at City View High School in Wichita Falls, has been named the Week Five recipient of the Gridiron Legends Player of the Week, presented by Cavender’s and Wrangler Retro. Coursey, a junior, ran for 357 yards and eight touchdowns in the Mustangs’ 70-41 victory over Haskell. City View fans can also be praised for their part in this honor, as they voted often enough to make sure that Shane received the most votes in the poll on texasfootball.com.

Every Monday at noon, TexasFootball.com will announce ten candidates for that week’s award, based on the previous week’s on-field performance. Fans can vote online at TexasFootball.com’s online poll, where you can see the current vote standings. Voting will close at noon each Friday, with the winner being announced shortly afterward. The award will be given every week through Week 14. Check this page every week to view the full list of ten candidates and the details of their most recent performance.
This season, each weekly winner will be automatically nominated for the Player of the Year award, presented with Cavenders, Wrangler Retro and the Texas Bowl. Those candidates will be announced during the playoffs, and voting for that award will continue until the end of the high school season.
