Pitch, Run or Pass

In one week the Advocare V100 Texas Bowl kicks off when the Texas Tech Red Raiders’ air raid offense is contrasted by a punishing running game by the LSU Tigers.

LSU’s key to their running game is pitching the ball to Leonard Fournette. He has a total of 1,741 rushing yards, breaking LSU’s single-season rushing record as a sophomore. He also has led the team with 18 touchdowns this season. After being the front-runner for the first 8 weeks of the season, Fournette was denied an invite to the Heisman ceremony. To cap off an impressive 2015 season, Fournette is looking to prove himself on December 29th.

On the other side of the field, we have Texas Tech’s strong passing offense. Quarterback Patrick Mahomes has a total of 4,283 passing yards with 10 touchdown completions. Could these amazing passing skills have anything to do with the fact that Mahomes is also a pitcher for the Red Raiders baseball team? Now we know where he gets his accuracy from. Tech is 3rd in total offensive yards, 4th in passing yards, and 4th in receiving yards. They’re also known for scoring on average 46.5 points a game.

So what’s the best news for these football programs? Both offensive standouts are sophomores and will be returning to help their teams next season. Tune in December 29th at 8 PM to see who will bring home the trophy!
