Week 4 Preview
Every week in the Bud Light Blog we’ll take a look at a few key Big 12 & SEC games that are coming up. This week it’s the streaking Bulldogs from Mississippi State getting their first real test of the season against 8th ranked LSU in Baton Rouge:
Mississippi State @ LSU, 6:00 PM CST, ESPN: The Bulldogs are off to a hot start this season, going 3-0 against Southern Miss, UAB & South Alabama. Dak Prescott & the Mississippi State offense have dominated so far, as the Bulldogs currently sit sixth in the NCAA in passing touchdowns (11) and 20th in total yards/game (539). State hasn’t left Baton Rouge with a win since 1991, if they’re able to do it on Saturday it’ll likely be on the shoulders of Prescott and the Bulldog offense.
However while they’ve gotten off to a great start, MSU hasn’t seen a defense like the Tigers’ yet. LSU has only given up 8 points per game, 3rd in FBS and hasn’t given up a touchdown since the 3rd quarter of their opener against Wisconsin at the AdvoCare Texas Kickoff in Houston. Despite getting off to a somewhat slow start against the Badgers, LSU reeled off 21 straight points in the second half to hold on for a 28-24 win. They’ve since put the clamps on overmatched opposing offenses from Sam Houston State and Louisiana Monroe, pitching shutouts in both wins.
Can the Bulldogs pull off the upset in front of 100,000+ screaming fans at Death Valley and prove that they’ll be a factor in a crowded SEC West? Don’t miss this early season SEC showdown tomorrow night on ESPN.
